WHAT WE DO |
|
What Do We Do? The Society of St Vincent de Paul is a registered charity and is dedicated to helping underprivileged people in our community here in Hastings and the wider Hawkes Bay area. We also aim to help people acquire and develop life skills suitable for employment and work training. Electrical and electronic equipment is an integral part of our daily lives. But disposing of it in a safe and environmentally friendly way is not the norm as our landfills are filling up with dangerous poisons from electrical waste. Our emphasis is on the collection, recycling and refurbishment of all electrical waste in a responsible and environmentally friendly way, while upholding all existing New Zealand guidelines and regulations. The plastics and metals from computers we receive are disposed of locally and are not dumped, but re-used so none of it is leaked into our environment. Every computer that is refurbished is checked and guaranteed for three months (Hardware Only). Our aim is to have these computers ready for internet use, low-level gaming, and educational programs for people in our community who have low mobility, are elderly, are a student, or persons unable to get out and about easily. We aim to keep our prices at an affordable level to accommodate these groups. If you have too much stuff and are willing to help the community then please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know how you want to help. |
